We parked at the National Trust car park at Buttermere and headed out up a steep climb of High Snockrigg towards Robinson. After reaching a plateau we headed across bog land before the final climb to Robinson, 737 meters. It was quite chilly and misty at the top so we did not hang about long, descending towards Dale Head. Here the path goes straight ahead to Dale Head, but there is an alternative route to the left which takes in Hindscarth. After Hindscarth we cut back towards Dale Head, and then made the descent to Honister Pass. Here, by chance, we bumped in to Pam & Tony who were competing in a Long Distance Walkers Association 18-mile tour of the Lakes! Some coincidence! After a cup of tea in Honister Mine Coffee shop, Jim managed to thumb a lift back to Buttermere to collect the car, and we were soon on our way back home.
